Do I need a passport to travel to Antigua?

We strongly recommend that all members of your party travel with a passport with a validity date of at least six months past the date of your departure ‘from’ the island. As of December 31, 2005, a passport will be required for all US and Canadian citizens to travel to the Caribbean. Where is Galley Bay?

Galley Bay is located on the sunset side of Antigua, cradled by a 3/4 mile white sand beach and a fascinating saltwater bird sanctuary lagoon.

How far away 'from' the airport is the resort?

We are approximately 20 minutes ‘from’ the airport and a taxi will cost US$20 for 2 people. There is $1 extra charge per bag.

What time is check-in/out?

12:00 noon is check-out time and 3:00 PM is check-in time.

Can my room be upgraded?

Yes, upon availability and with an extra charge payable at the resort.

What type of beds are in the rooms?

There are King beds in all room categories.

Are there safes in the rooms and are they included in the cost?

Yes, the rooms do have safes available for no charge, however, should you lose the key, there is a $100 fee.

Does my room have a fridge?

Yes, all rooms have mini-fridges.

Are there hairdryers, irons and ironing boards in the rooms?

Hairdryers are provided in all rooms. Irons and ironing boards are available upon request.

What is the voltage at the resort?

The voltage is 110V.

Are the rooms air-conditioned and do they have ceiling fans?

Yes, the rooms are air-conditioned and also have ceiling fans.

Are dinner reservations required?

Reservations are required for Ismay’s and Gauguin Restaurants.

What is the dress code policy for the restaurants?

In the restaurants, shoes are worn and bathing suites are covered. After 6:30 p.m.(restaurants and bars), men wear shirts with collars and short or long sleeves (no T-shirts or tank tops) and long pants or stylish jeans (no shorts, Capri or 3/4 pants); and women wear dresses, skirts, long pants or stylish jeans, and culottes. For all guest In June, July, and August tailored Bermuda-length shorts (no “short shorts” or cutoffs) can be worn.

What do I need to know concerning illness & allergies liability?

The Resort is located in a tropical environment. Although the Resort does employ a year round pest control service, the Resort, its owners, employees, agents, insurers, and suppliers shall absolutely not be liable for any claim, injury or illness resulting from exposure to Zika virus, Chikungunya virus, or any other insect-borne virus or tropical illness whatsoever. The Resort’s food and beverage outlets use wholesome ingredients, which may include peanuts, tree nuts, seeds, shellfish, shrimp, seafood, soy, milk, wheat, and other potential allergens. Due to the large scale of the Resort’s food and beverage operations, the Resort cannot guarantee that food items will not come in contact with potential allergens even if a particular food does not normally include such ingredients. Guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions should be advised accordingly and take precautions. The Resort is not able to accommodate individually tailored meals for specific guests based on their individual dietary needs. The Resort and its owners, employees, agents, insurers, and suppliers shall absolutely not be liable for any claim, injury or illness resulting from food allergies or specific dietary needs or requirements.

Can I have room service?

Room service is not available.

Do you provide snacks between meals?

Afternoon tea is served daily between 4pm-5pm. The Gauguin Restaurant serves its regular menu from 12:00noon-4:30pm and reopens again for dinner at 6:45pm. The Barefoot Grill serves delicious snacks from homemade burgers to kebabs daily from 12:00noon-4:30pm. Please note that hours are subject to change.

When is the Manager's Cocktail party?

Wednesday nights at 6:30pm.

Are there any day trips?

In addition to the complimentary activities that are a part of Galley Bay’s all-inclusive package, there are a variety of optional excursions that may be arranged through guest services. Take a trip to Nelson’s Dockyard or Shirley Heights. There is a fee for these, and other optional excursions.

Can I snorkel right off the beach at the resort?

Yes, and snorkeling trips are also available at the Tour Desk.

How far is it to the nearest shopping area?

The capital city of St. John’s is only a 10 minute taxi ride away.

How many golf courses are on the island and how far away are they?

There are two golf courses on the island – they are both 30-45 minutes away and a taxi will cost in excess of $20.

How many tennis courts does the resort have and what kind of surface are they?

Galley Bay has one tennis court with artificial turf.

Is there a tennis pro at the resort? How much are lessons?

Yes, there is a tennis pro. Lessons start at $30 for 1/2 hour.

Is there a dive shop on property?

No there isn?t, but our Tour Desk is happy to arrange any dive excursions for you.

Where is the nearest dive shop?

The nearest dive shop is 20 minutes away and the cost for a taxi is $17 roundtrip. However some companies include the transfer cost in the dive package.

Can guests scuba dive at the resort?

Diving cannot be done ‘from’ our beach, but the snorkeling is great!

Can I rent a car? What is the daily cost?

Yes, car rental is available at the rental desk located at the resort. The daily cost is approximately $50.

Can I use a US driver's license?

No, you will need to purchase a temporary visitor’s license for a nominal $20 fee.

Are bicycles available?

Bicycles are complimentary during your stay.

Is there a casino at the resort?

No, but the closest one is only 10 minutes away.

Is internet access available?

Yes in the library.

Is there an ATM at the resort?

No, but there is one in town, 10 minutes away.

What type of deposit is required?

Deposits vary depending on the company you used to make your reservation.

Are children allowed at Galley Bay?

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted at Galley Bay.

Do you have special polices during the Holiday season?

During the Holiday season final payment is due 45 days prior to arrival. Once reservation is paid, it is non-refundable, non-transferable, and no changes are allowed.

What is required at check-in?

At check-in, guests are required to present valid government-issued identification (passport, driver’s license, ID card) along with a valid major credit card. This helps us confirm your arrival, and helps protect our guests by assisting with our fraud prevention measures. At check-in, a US$350 pre-authorization will be processed on your card to cover any incidental purchases or similar expenses. Incidental purchases may include things like tours, excursions, gift shop purchases, and dining in our specialty restaurant. We understand that not all guests incur additional charges during their stay, but this process all assists the resort with fraud prevention. The pre-authorization is released at check-out, assuming you have not charged any purchases to your room.
